11. Does OK DOORS offer doors in custom sizes?

OK DOORS doors are available in standard developer and construction dimensions, in accordance with the applicable standards in Poland. We offer a wide selection of models, but we do not make orders for doors in non-standard sizes or made to measure.

1. Can a cover panel be installed on the door threshold?

Yes, installing a cover plate for exterior doors is possible, and its main purpose is to provide an aesthetic finish for the door threshold. The cover plate conceals any unevenness and ensures a neat appearance, while also protecting the threshold from damage. It’s worth making sure the cover plate is properly matched to the type of threshold and the door material.

2. How to properly install hardware on exterior doors?

Installation of handles and locks in exterior doors should be carried out in accordance with OK DOORS instructions to ensure their functionality and safety. See how to properly install the hardware on our doors.

3. What are the external dimensions of the door and what installation opening is required?

Standard dimensions of exterior doors are usually 90 cm in width and 200 cm in height, although other sizes are also available in our door configurator. However, it’s important to remember that the given dimensions refer to the door leaf itself. To ensure proper installation, the mounting opening should be appropriately larger. The door mounting opening should be larger by a few centimeters than the door dimensions to allow for correct installation, including space for the door frame and seals. It is recommended that the wall opening is about 1–2 cm wider than the frame width and about 1–2 cm taller.

For example,: the S68 model in a steel frame with a leaf size of 90 cm, the mounting opening should be in the range of 101–102 cm in width and 208–209 cm in height. Such dimensions allow the frame to be fitted properly and ensure the necessary space for adjustment and installation materials.

Remember that exact dimensions may vary depending on the specific door model, so it’s always worth checking the technical specifications of the selected product before preparing the mounting opening.

4. How to determine the door opening direction and mounting method?

When building a house, the door opening direction is determined already at the planning and design stage. You need to decide, whether the door should open outward or inward: think about whether you prefer a door that opens outward or inward and check, what the design and room layout allow.

In the case of apartments in a block, the door opening rules are clearly defined –they must open inward, not outward.

Those decisions and conditions above directly affect the choice of door and the preparation for installation.

During installation, the hinges are fitted according to the previously established opening direction:

if the door is to open outward, the hinges are installed on the exterior side: on the right side for a door opening to the right, on the left side for a door opening to the left,
if the door is to open inward, the hinges are installed on the interior side: on the right side for a door opening to the right, on the left side for a door opening to the left.

If the hinges are already mounted, then:

for doors opening outward – if the hinges are visible on the right side, this means the door opens to the right; if on the left side, then the door opens to the left.,
for doors opening inward the rule is the same—you determine the direction from inside, and then check which side the hinges are placed on. If they are on the right side, a door opening inward will open to the right; whereas if the hinges are on the left, it will open to the left.

5. Can the door be shortened, and if so, by how many centimeters?

No, steel doors are designed to meet applicable building standards, and their structure, including the placement of reinforcements in the leaf, has been designed to ensure optimal stability, safety, and insulation performance. Independent shortening may compromise these features and negatively affect the product’s durability.

To ensure proper adjustment of the door to the installation opening, we recommend using the standard dimensions offered in our range.

6. Can you buy just the door leaf and install it on an existing door frame?

There is such a possibility after carefully checking the mounting points and the hinge type. If you have our installed frame, we can definitely help you. Before purchasing, please verify by photo and in terms of size: the hinge and the latch/strike plate, as well as contact us on this matter with the Customer Service Department.

7. Does OK DOORS offer door installation service?

Currently, OK DOORS does not provide door installation services. Our priority at this time is supplying high-quality doors that you can install yourself, e.g. with the help of a qualified installer.

8. What Allen key size should be used to adjust the door hinges?

To adjust the door hinges, you will need an Allen key matched to the size of the screws in the hinges. Usually, keys of size 4, 5, or 6 mm are used, depending on the hinge design. The adjustment involves gently loosening or tightening the screws, allowing you to precisely set the door in the correct position.

9. Which door mounting anchors are the best?

Door mounting anchors should be matched to the material in which the door will be installed. For solid, concrete walls, expansion or chemical anchors are most commonly used, ensuring a strong and long-lasting hold. If the door is installed in a brick wall or in blocks, it’s worth using anchors specially designed for this type of material—such as steel anchors with expanding sleeves, which work effectively even in materials with lower density.

In short, the choice of the best anchors depends on the type of material in which the door will be mounted—the better the anchors are matched, the more secure and durable the installation.

Regular care of entrance doors helps preserve their appearance and durability for many years. Cleaning steel doors is best done using mild detergents, water and a soft cloth—avoid abrasive cleaners such as sponges or scouring pads, as well as products containing abrasive substances or aggressive chemicals that may damage the surface. As part of maintenance of exterior doors, it’s also worth taking care of the seals by wiping them with a damp cloth, and every few months checking the condition of the hinges and lubricating them if necessary. It’s also a good idea to regularly inspect the door surface to prevent rust and other damage caused by weather conditions.

Effective protection of exterior doors against moisture, UV radiation, and other weather factors requires the use of suitable door maintenance agents. To protect steel doors against corrosion, it’s best to use specialized products intended for metal surfaces—this may include protective waxes that form a protective barrier, or silicone-based products and polishes. Regular application of these preparations not only increases the doors’ durability, but also enhances their appearance, giving them an attractive shine.
