1. Measure the width of the installation opening
Best to measure in three places: at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom of the opening. The results may differ by even a few millimeters—use the smallest dimension as your reference.
2. Measure the height of the opening
As with the width—measure on the left, on the right, and in the middle.
If you plan to install with a threshold, add the appropriate space.
3. Measure the wall thickness
This is particularly important when choosing the door frame. Measure at several points—the walls may not be perfectly even.
4. Check plumb and level
Measuring the opening is not only about centimeters—it's also important whether the walls are straight. Place a level against the sides and the lintel—even small deviations can affect the proper functioning of the door.
