Choosing a canopy above the door
Step 1: Measure the door width including the frame
Start by measuring accurately:
- Door opening width (together with the frame)
- Additional side margin – ideally at least 20–30 cm on each side, so the canopy actually protects the entire entry area.
Example:
The door is 100 cm wide → choose a canopy with a width of at least 140–160 cm.
Step 2: Select the right depth (projection from the wall)
The canopy depth determines how well it will protect against rainfall.
- For standard use: 80–100 cm
- For greater protection (e.g., with a side panel): 120–160 cm
Worth knowing:
The larger the projection, the better the protection—but you need to take into account space and the distance from adjacent elements (e.g., gutters, windows, balconies).
